Laura Jackson
Laura is a 30-year veteran rower, 16-year Sound Rowers member, and 12-year surfski paddler. She owns an airport planning consulting firm that employs a dog named Vinnie as it’s wellness expert. She incurs extreme jealousy from her husband when she can break mid-day to go paddle.
Paddling Highlights
2001-2006: Miscellaneous Sound Rowers, PNW-ORCA and other local surfski and outrigger races.
2001: Masters World Cup, Lake Velence, Hungary. Multiple medals in women's K1, K2, and mixed K2, K4 sprint events. K1 races had official “World Cup” status.
2000: Great Cross Sound Race: Only person to win Windermere Cup for fastest woman overall as a rower AND as a paddler (1993, ’03,’04 rowing; 2000 in surfski).
1999, 2000: SeaTrek Regatta, Sausalito, CA. Fastest woman, Alcatraz Course.
1998: World Masters Games, Vancouver WA. Numerous medals in women’s K1, K2, K4, and mixed K2, K4, including pick-up composite teams with Slovak and Hungarian paddlers.
1995-2005: Sea to Ski, Bellingham WA. Top 3 individual woman kayaker (several years as fastest), Top 3 women’s teams (First in 1999) 1995-1999. Other top team finishes in Veterans and mixed-rec (as canoeist).
Paddling Related
1993-current: Coach and board member for Portland Kayak and Canoe Team, focusing on youth and multi-sport racers.
2005-07: Sound Rowers Trustee. Served similar role several terms ago.

2005-2005: San Diego Crew Classic: Winner women’s 50+ category.
2001-2004: Head of the Charles, Boston MA. Winner (’01) and top 3 finisher Women’s Master’s 4 race.
1998: World Master’s Games, Vancouver, WA Medalist in 5 events, including women’s fours (first), quad, single, mixed 8.
1995: Head of the Charles, Boston, MA Course record set in Women’s Master’s 4. The record still stands in 2006.
1993: US Rowing Master’s Nationals, Vancouver, WA Winner, women’s single and mixed 8. Second in women’s double, and quad.
