Career Highlights
317-mile Lake Michigan Challenge, 1st place overall racing in a tandem kayak with my husband, Brandon Nelson.
460-mile Yukon River Quest, 1st Place Mixed Tandem and Course Record partnered with Brandon.
As a member of Team Bones Adventuring Racing, then Team Subaru USA Adventure Racing 1998 – 2002 my team consistently placed top 10 nationally and internationally, with my final race before retirement being a 9th place finish in Eco-Challenge Fiji where only 10 teams of 81 finished!!!
71-day, 1200-mile kayak circumnavigation of Lake Baikal, in Siberia with Brandon.
6-month, 4000-mile mountain bike and sea kayak expedition from the Canadian border in Montana to Cabo San Lucas. Brandon and I mountain biked the Great Divide trail, continuing to San Felipe, Baja, where we traded our bikes for kayaks and sea kayaked the entire Baja peninsula to Cabo San Lucas.
And, my favorite…named by Adventure Sport Magazine (May 2003) as one of eight “Gritty Women” to watch out for!
