WOW - Women On Waves
Women On Waves - Take Two
The second installation of Women on Waves is scheduled to take place on June 30-July 1, 2007 at Stevenson, WA (Columbia Gorge). Tentative plans at this point are to have a two day event, so we can get lots of paddling in! We plan to have sessions covering novice to advanced paddlers. Subject to change, this is what we're thinking:
- Friday, June 29: arrive, set up camp, eat, maybe paddle?
- Saturday, June 30: AM technical session, paddling technique
- Saturday, June 30: PM surfing, beginning and advanced. Maybe a group downwind run!
- Sunday, July 1: AM group paddle
Camping will be available at Skamania County Fairgrounds, very near the river in Stevenson, WA.
Mark your calendars, make your plans, and get ready for some serious fun! We'd appreciate an approximate head count - if you are planning to come, or even are considering attending, please let us know. Send an email to Traci (watersprite at inbox.com) with your intent.
Also, while we will try to have a few demo/loaner boats on hand, we won't have nearly the selection we were able to provide at WOW I. Please bring your own equipment where possible, or borrow a friend's boat for the weekend.
Who's behind this event?
Four paddlers from the Pacific NW decided they wanted to do something
to increase the numbers of women participating in the sport. Why should
the boys have all the fun?
